First MACSE auction 2025
On October 11th, the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, formalized the decree for the centralized electricity storage system.
The storage capacity acquisition mechanism, known as Macse, had already received the green light from the European Commission last December. With this decree, the project moves to the operational phase.
This initiative will allow Terna to launch procurement tenders, with the first auction for electrochemical storage systems scheduled for the first half of 2025.
